Sweet Potato: The Superfood

I am a HUGE fan of sweet potatoes at any meal, but I have to say that incorporating them into breakfast is my favorite way to eat them. The fiance and I whipped up this sweet potato and onion hash, from this recipe, to eat with our morning eggs and toast. I definitely went back for seconds!

This tasty, fat-free super food will keep your tummy full for hours and has tons of great healthy benefits. You can read about some of the benefits here. My challenge for you is to try and incorporate a sweet potato into a meal this week!

Memorial Day 5

This weekend happens to be on of the best weekends to kick off the summer season because it combines two great things... A 3-day weekend to celebrate Memorial Day AND the Nordstrom Women's Half Yearly Sale! In light of this fabulous weekend, I picked 5 great items from the Nordstrom Sale that would kick off your holiday weekend (and summer) in style!

1. Kate Spade New York Retro Sunglasses , 2. Nanette Lepore 'Riviera Stripe Diva' bikini top and bottom, 3. Theyskens' Theory 'Kyrt Yilgy' Open Knit Sweater, 4. Sanctuary 'New Peace' Cotton Chino Shorts, 5. Diane von Furstenberg 'Tafari' Wedge

Remember, all these items are on sale so they are going fast! I cannot guarantee they will be available. Have a super great holiday weekend!

Better Late Than Never....Friday 5

Life has been a little crazy (tiring) with this broken ankle, crutching around business. Some days I feel good (and end up trying to do too much) so then the next day I feel exhausted and run down. Anyway, my schedule has been a little out of wack and I apologize for getting my Friday Five out on Monday....in any case, here are 5 things that made me smile this week....

A fantastic feature on the Glitter Guide of the talented, gorgeous interior designer, Alex Berlin. She is also the creator of the blog Things That Sparkle. (photo from the feature)

Vogue took us 'Inside the Party of the Year' with this slideshow of all the gorgeous fashion and exciting guests that attended this year's Met Gala. (photo of Camilla Belle arriving/from the slideshow).

Kerastase protein treatment for hair that I scored on eBay for about half the price it normally is. My hair has never felt so good!

Deliciously cool mojito made with homemade mint on a warm, gorgeous day spent outside.

My dear friend Jax suggested I listen to this playlist to cheer up my morning on a website called 8tracks. I had never even heard of it, but I tried out the playlist she suggested and then kept searching for more! If you're a music lover, check out 8tracks. You won't be disappointed!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and happy Monday!

5 DIY

5 Do-It-Yourself projects that are worth every ounce of the effort (in my opinion!)...

Chalkboard Serving Platter. These DIY directions can be found here, on the because im addicted blog.

Marble glassware (made with nail polish!). DIY directions from the blog honestly...WTF and can be found here!

Macrame bracelets, also from honestly...WTF. Directions here.

Aurelie Bidermann Necklace from (yet another) favorite blog of mine! Cheetah is the New Black gives her step-by-step directions here.

Brooch bouquet which I am in the process of constructing for my wedding! I researched DIY brooch bouquets online, but am creating my own methods as I go. This gorgeous bouquet/photo is from the previously mentioned creator Ritzy Rose.

*The first 4 photos are from their respective blog sites and the last photo is from the Ritzy Rose website, as mentioned.

Have a beautiful weekend (and a fun, but safe Cinco de Mayo)!

Embracing Bare Legs

So, a few weeks ago I decided that I was going to make more of an effort to incorporate leg-baring pieces into my summer wardrobe (such as shorts, dresses, and non-maxi skirts). I have always been a bit self-conscious about my legs, but always wanted to incorporate these items into my summer rotation. Well, as of last weekend I don't really have a choice. I broke my ankle and have a huge cast up to my knee which makes it impossible to wear jeans or pants. What a perfect opportunity for me to jump on this summer resolution! Here are a few picks I've had my eye on....
